On this page I’m going to share my favorite marketing resources with you.
I’ve spent much of my life investigating different marketing and software tools, I know how frustrating it can be finding tools that actually work!
I also realize how expensive and seemingly impossible it can be to succeed as a small business these days, which is why I’m so excited and honored to share much of my own research and wisdom with you by sharing my favorite resources on this neat and handy page.
I hope that you find these resources well, and thank you so much for reading!
Blatant Disclosure: Please be aware that while I totally love the products on this page, and recommend them to my colleagues, friends, fans, students, and subscribers alike; that I am indeed an affiliate of many of these tools, so if you decide to click on links on this page then please be aware that I may receive a commission for introducing you to the service.
Sales And Marketing Funnels
A Sales Funnel is a very specific type of website that is designed to generate a lead, sell products, or deliver products online. The best thing about a sales funnel in my opinion, is that a sales funnel can help you to scientifically test and measure your marketing creatives, so you can better determine what works, and what doesn’t work.
I honestly think that understanding the art and science of a sales funnel is a little-known yet paramount attribute for a modern entrepreneur’s success, which is why I’m always recommending The DotComSecrets Book to my colleagues, students, friends, peers, or anyone who will listen.
The DotComSecrets Book is an excellent modern marketing book that teaches about website traffic, sales funnels, lead generation, and selling your products online. If you’re new to the world of internet marketing, or modern entrepreneurship, then it’s highly recommended.
If you’re curious to see how you can easily build and deploy beautiful marketing pages and sales funnels for your own business, without being a PhD in marketing or tech, then I highly recommend ClickFunnels because ClickFunnels is very easy to use, and is designed to help you advertise, market, sell, and deliver your products online without any of the technical hurdles that may exist when building a website on your own.
If you’re frustrated because you’re not sure how to build beautiful marketing pages, or add the dreaded “Add To Cart” buttons onto your sales pages, then ClickFunnels comes with a ton of templates that are very easy to use, and customize to match your own business.
Free Affiliate Marketing Training
I’m a huge fan of affiliate marketing, because I honestly believe that these days there are so many powerful affiliate networks and affiliate products that just about any small business owner could find value in.
If you’re curious to learn much more about affiliate marketing, then there are two awesome affiliate marketing memberships that you can register and use for absolutely zero cost.
The first one is the ClickFunnels Affiliate Bootcamp. This affiliate marketing membership focuses primarily on building affiliate marketing funnels, lead generation, online advertising, and promoting your affiliate offers via email marketing, and with Facebook Ads.
The second is a service called Affilorama. Affilorama focuses on building authority blogs, and by promoting your affiliate offers via search engine optimization, and with organic traffic.
I’ve checked out both of these affiliate marketing courses in thorough detail, and I think that both of them are very cool and worth checking out if you want to learn more about the exciting world of affiliate marketing.
Email Marketing And Automation
I honestly believe that email marketing is still one of the best ways for small business owners and entrepreneurs to sell their products online.
Email marketing is very cheap to deploy, and if you love to publish and create awesome content for your audience, then email marketing is arguably one of the best ways to share your message with your audience.
Email marketing can also be a powerful branding tool, an awesome sales asset, and a way to share your social media profiles, blog posts, product launches, or your latest content with your fans, students, readers, or newsletter subscribers.
I’m personally a huge fan of AWeber as an email marketing software, because they offer awesome (and easy to use) automation features and also a very cheap price. I can honestly say that, according to my own experience, AWeber has awesome customer support that is open twenty-four hours, so if you ever have any questions about their service then they’re around 24/7.
AWeber also offers amazing email marketing templates for free that are perfect for small business owners, bloggers, authors, newsletter writers, or just about any small business owner who wants to start email marketing without being a pro copywriter. These templates rock, and I hope that they find you well!
Email List Building With Solo Ads
A Solo Ad is a form of email advertising where an email newsletter publisher promotes one of YOUR lead capture pages to their audience.
I think that the very idea of Solo Ads are very fascinating, and as a result I actually keep a relatively detailed Solo Ad Rolodex of the most popular Solo Ad Vendors from Udimi, which is the world’s top Solo Ad Marketplace.
I’m also an affiliate of Udimi and if you register to Udimi using my affiliate link you will get a free $5 ad credit! Of course, $5 doesn’t go very far in the world of online advertising, as you know, however, I figure that every bit helps these days.
It’s important to note that most email newsletters that offer Solo Ad offers are usually in a very mainstream niche; so if you are a local business, or looking for a very specific type of lead, then Solo Ads are definitely not your cup of tea; they are designed for very mainstream markets. (Such as internet marketing, business opportunity, work at home, health, diet, fat loss, dating, et cetera).
One of the most frustrating things in the world, is when you have products, services, e-books, courses, or a business idea that rocks, but you just have no clue how to effectively sell it.
I’m of the honest opinion, that just about the single best way to sell anything, is with words. The trouble is, of course, figuring out how to write the words in a way that compels your end users to click your “Add To Cart” button.
That’s precisely why I’m always bragging and ranting about Funnel Scripts, which is an awesome software that can help to write your sales copy for you.
Funnel Scripts can help you to brainstorm sales letters, marketing funnel scripts, webinar scripts, and even marketing emails. If you are a small business owner who is totally confused when it comes to writing sales copy (lol), definitely at least register for the demo by clicking here so you can check this out and learn more about how it works.
My Favorite Web Host
Namecheap is definitely my favorite web host, simply because they offer free domain privacy protection (Whois Protection) and are also true to their name, and very cheap.
If you’re looking to start a blog, and want a simple web host that will enable you to install WordPress without any tech trouble, then Namecheap is cheap and reliable. Their hosting is literally just a couple of bucks per month, and the performance of this super cheap web hosting really isn’t bad.
If you think that this website (MrComputerScience.com) loads and performs decently, then consider checking out Namecheap because that’s who I use and recommend for those who want to save a buck without sacrificing cool features and support. 😉
WordPress Themes And Plugins
I think that WordPress is the best Content Management System for building very simple websites and blogs!
I’m also a huge fan of StudioPress, and am always struggling to figure out which of their themes I like the best! I recommend StudioPress to anyone who likes MrComputerScience.com, because this website was built using StudioPress themes!
Regarding WordPress plugins, I honestly believe that less is more! In my humble opinion, the more bloat you have on your blog, the more risk you have of encountering different threat vectors (due to excess, outdated, or dirty code) and you also run the risk of making your website load slower.
So, as a result, I have a hugely “minimalist” view of WordPress plugins and literally the only plugins I use on this blog are the following:
- Pretty Link Lite (For URL cloaking and redirects).
- Genesis 404 (For creating simple 404 redirects).
- Genesis Simple Edits (For creating nifty footers).
- Genesis Simple Share (For creating beautiful share buttons).
- Google XML Sitemaps (For creating XML maps for search engines).
- Thrive Architect (A beautiful page builder plugin for WordPress).
Online Teaching Tools
If you’ve read my content for long then you know that I’m hugely passionate about the world of online teaching, and online learning!
If you want to learn more about the strategy of being an awesome online teacher, a coach, a consultant, or any type of online expert, then I totally recommend that you check out The Expert Secrets Book. This, in my opinion, showcases powerful strategy on how to position yourself as an expert authority in your niche.
The good news is that if you too are interested in sharing your skillset with the world, then it won’t cost an absolute fortune. In fact, you can begin creating halfway decent lectures with tools that you may already have kicking around the house, or otherwise can obtain for relatively cheap money.
The first tool that I use as an Online Teacher is Microsoft Office 365. The main thing I love about Microsoft Office 365, is that their PowerPoint comes equipped with a bunch of slide presentations that make it really easy to create beautiful looking slides without any technical hurdles or hassles. I also am a huge fan of Microsoft Word to help create the outlines for courses. (I’m actually typing this document in Microsoft Word before I import it over into WordPress lol, so I’m a huge fan).
For a Microphone, these days I love the SamSon GoMic more and more. The reason I love this Microphone, is because it’s tiny, it’s relatively cheap, and it’s also very easy to use.
I use Audacity to record my voice when reciting lectures, because Audacity is very easy to use, and it’s also totally 100% free, which rocks.
For recording online courses and recording my desktop, I use a software called ActivePresenter which is free to try, and very cheap to buy. ActivePresenter is also very easy to use, and the videos have looked crystal clear right out of the box. (If you have ever seen any of my online videos or courses, it was recorded with ActivePresenter!).
I honestly believe that SEMRush is one of the most powerful SEO tools for bloggers, marketers, or small business owners who want help getting their websites noticed by the big search engines.
If you’ve never used SEMRush before, then you might be shocked to see how much information they have on different keywords, websites, phrases, or even your competition.
If you want to learn more about search engine marketing, or if you’re just a writer who wants to brainstorm a ton of powerful and insightful content marketing ideas, then SEMRush is one of the most popular SEO tools on the planet, and I honestly think that they rock.
Beautiful Graphics Tools
My number one resource for finding beautiful stock graphics that I use for social media content, my blog posts, and also for course slides is PixaBay.
PixaBay adheres to a licensing mechanism referred to as “Creative Commons Zero”, which is basically the most lenient license that I’m aware of.
You can use these beautiful stock images for your personal and commercial projects, and you never have to give attribution! If you do any type of self-publishing, art, or blogging, then PixaBay is tremendously powerful, and valuable.
Canva is another graphic tool that’s quite literally spoiling me. Canva is super easy to use, and will allow you to easily create banners, social media graphics, book covers, or custom graphics without paying a single cent.
Want Even More Tools? Check This Out!
Not too long ago I published a separate post that talks about more tools and resources that I love to use.
The post lists the entire collection of tools that I use and recommend, though it doesn’t go into as much detail as this document.
You can check that out here if you want, you’ll find a bunch of cool stuff not listed here such as privacy tools, advertising networks, affiliate programs, and a few other hidden gems not found elsewhere. 😉
Thanks so much for reading, and please have a beautiful day!
