In case you are wondering, I have indeed purchased over 100 solo ads on Udimi, so I feel qualified to give my honest feedback. Overall, I am a great fan and proponent of Udimi, and I am also an affiliate.
At the same time, I realize that small business owners (one-person teams and marketers especially) do not have significant advertising budgets these days. Countless small business owners are feeling the financial crunch! For that reason, I recommend using any paid advertising method cautiously, and always test small! In any event, if you are fortunate enough to have a marketing budget, then you have probably heard about solo ads.
Solo ads might be for you if you have an elite lead generation funnel, and if you are in a very-mainstream niche. For example, solo ad vendors usually offer advertising and lead generation services to those in internet marketing, business-opportunity, weight loss, or relationship style niches.
If you are in a very narrow or specific niche, then solo ads are not a feasible lead generation strategy, in my opinion. As with any advertising method, I would not recommend solo ads if you are not familiar with the concepts of email marketing follow-ups, lead generation funnels, email copywriting, marketing KPIs, et cetera.

Yes! Email marketing is still one of my favorite lead generation methods. There are many reasons why I adore email marketing. Low cost, ease of use, and low-tech stress are three big reasons.
You can get started with email marketing without much of a budget – or even free. You can strive to create fantastic followup content that serves your audience! Then, hopefully, you can warm them up and share some of your best products, services, and offers to a receptive audience.
Also, on a side note, I talk with a lot of small business owners, bloggers, writers, teachers, et cetera. One thing that I have noticed is that many marketers and business owners are increasingly parsimonious regarding advertising budgets! Can you blame them? I also think that email marketing can help all small business owners – doubly so since these days marketing budgets and advertising budgets are tighter than ever.

There are way too many commendable blogging platforms to single out a clear victor! That said, MrComputerScience.com proudly runs on WordPress! I fancy WordPress and I have used WordPress for many years.
One of the main things you might appreciate regarding WordPress is popularity. Since many websites deploy WordPress, you will find abundant support, third-party plugins, themes, communities, et cetera. WordPress rocks if you love to write and wish to create content without the annoying tech getting in the way.
One final (and beautiful) aspect of WordPress is that it is 100% open-source. So, you can use WordPress in your commercial projects, B2B projects, lead generation products, teaching projects, nonprofit projects, et cetera.
