If you want someone to subscribe to your email newsletter, then you need to offer a powerful lead magnet as an ethical bribe.
Before I show you my simple brainstorming exercise for powerful lead magnet creation, I want to let you know that often times I don’t create just ONE lead magnet.
Why I Focus On Creating Multiple Lead Magnets
What I personally do, is create many different lead magnets, and then test them to see which ones have the highest demand.
So maybe I’ll create 10 (or 17) different lead magnets, and then I’ll promote those lead magnets to see which ones have the highest demand among my prospects.
This is important, because if there’s one thing I’ve learned after studying the world of technology and marketing for a while, it’s that our opinion never matters; the only thing that matters is the opinion of our end user, and the actions that they take!
Always Remember That Our Opinions Mean Nothing!
In other words, we never decide what is in high demand, our ideal prospects decide. (It’s so easy to get this wrong if you simply guess, so the only way to know for sure, is to test).
Once you find a lead magnet that has high demand, then it’s much easier to give it away, and thereby generate a lead, and build your email list.
So, that’s my lead magnet philosophy, after generating a ton of leads over the years.
But maybe you’re wondering where to start?
Well, this is my own personal brainstorm exercise when I’m trying to create an awesome lead magnet.
All Proper Lead Magnet Campaigns Start By Analyzing Your End Users On A Deep Level
- Know what problems they have.
- Know what their top frustrations are.
- Know what they would bend over backwards to get in relation to your niche!
- Know the top 10 questions that they have.
If You Can Answer Those Questions, Then Generating A Powerful Lead Magnet Will Be Much Easier, And More Enjoyable.
And always remember that the format doesn’t really matter as much as you might think; maybe your lead magnet is a book, a video course, an infographic, or a short cheat sheet.
What matters the most, is that your lead magnet solves a major problem that your ideal prospects have.
That’s why knowing your end users, and their mass desires, is always the most important variable to consider.
In fact, after this brainstorming exercise, the hardest part will be deciding which lead magnet to start out with! (Which is why testing different lead magnets can be a ridiculously powerful idea).
Once you have an awesome lead magnet idea, then it comes time to create an amazing email funnel so you can start testing your lead magnet, and generating leads.
